Peace is not simply the absence of strife in our lives, nor is joy the absence of pain in our hearts. Peace and joy are God’s response to our invitation to come into our lives and hearts.

Bryan,
I’m grateful for your continued grappling with the truth. I am in strong agreement with you that peace is not the absence of conflict.
I am encouraged that the Word tells us that He (Jesus) himself is our peace (Eph 2:14). Indeed, peace is not a commodity that we can possess and is certainly not something we can negotiate. However, believers in Christ, are inhabited by the Prince of Peace, and can routinely experience the ‘real peace’ that passes understanding, even in the midst of turmoil.
Thank you and Amen my Brother.
