When we allow someone to provoke us to say or do something we wouldn’t normally, we unwittingly place them in a position of leadership, and submit ourselves to their authority.

Beware of assigning a mere man to a role God has reserved for Himself (1 Sam.8). Likewise, beware of becoming the man who assumes a role God has written for Himself (1 Sam. 13).

Do not be deceived.
A leader can look the part (1 Sam. 9:2),
have a calling (1 Sam. 9:16-17),
be anointed (1 Sam. 10:1),
have an established resume (1 Sam.13:1),
and still veer wildly off course (1 Sam. 13:13-14).
All it takes is fixing one’s eyes on the wrong thing.
Never forget that it is by their fruit that you shall know them (Matt. 7:15-17).

Insecurity
It drives us to exaggerate our claims, while hiding our failures
It highlights the painful moments, while syphoning off the blessings
It causes us to interpret even the simplest of questions as an attack
It conjures images of inevitable rejection
Insecurity
It compels us to manipulate in the fear our needs will go unmet
It keeps us wrestling for a seat that already had our name on it
It pushes us to be someone we’re not in the belief that no one could love us as we truly are
It makes us feel as though people are judging us when we’re actually judging ourselves
Insecurity
It encourages us to wonder who the author was thinking of when he wrote this

If Jesus, a man of perfect faith, who was one with the Father, refused to act without specific guidance from above (John 5:19), how much more should we be reliant on the direction of His in-dwelling Spirit. For those who would point to the Bible as our sole source for divine guidance, consider that Jesus was the Word (John 1:1-14).

Being broken is not the same as being beyond repair. Hold on to hope, and find a place of healing.

I am like a child lost at the mall
Though my eyes can be drawn to the bright and shiny things
And my nostrils filled with the smells of sticky treats
And my ears tickled with the festive sounds
My heart yearns to find my Father
And to abide in the warmth of His presence

Exposing the counterfeit is of little value unless we go on to manifest the genuine.

Thought for the Day – Symphony

The members of an orchestra don’t come together by taking their cues from each other, they do so by fixing their eyes on a singular person and responding to the promptings of that Conductor. And so it is with the Body of Christ. We will not achieve genuine unity through increased dialogue or simple cooperation. It will only happen when we collectively succumb to the guidance of the One, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.
